Overlock Machine Parts Book: Pegasus, Jack and Kansai Explained

By Aashu, Stitch Partner (garment machinery and spares since 1989).

Quick answer: an overlock (serger) parts book lists loopers, needle plates, feed dogs, knives and presser feet with part numbers for one model. Many Indian overlocks follow the Pegasus EX pattern, so the Pegasus book often confirms parts for copies too. Free books: Pegasus parts book PDF and Kansai Special part books.

Parts you will look up most

  • Needle plate: check the thread count (3, 4 or 5 thread) and stitch width.
  • Feed dog set: main and differential feed are separate part numbers.
  • Upper and lower looper: matched to the stitch type, never mix.
  • Knives: upper and lower knife are ordered separately.

Tip: the quantity chart at the end of Pegasus and Jack overlock books shows which parts change between 3-thread, 4-thread and 5-thread versions. Check it before ordering.
